SGA is looking for a number of event managers to work on a 7 week outdoor activity this summer.

The Big Animal Challenge is being produced by SGA Production on behalf of ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, and will run from 18th July to 4th September 2022.

We are looking for a minimum of three event managers who, between them, will cover the 7 days a week operation of the event which requires 2 people being onsite every day.

The main focus will be taking responsibility of the health and safety for the main activity hub, including overseeing the implementation of the health and safety policy for a bespoke inflatable activity. Duties will also include managing a team of paid and volunteer ZSL Whipsnade Zoo event staff, smaller scale activity resets and maintenance, daily reporting and being the point of contact for the zoo on behalf of SGA.

The events will run from 10:00 to 18:00 every day, so daily working hours are expected to be 09:00 to 18:30.

This event is outdoors and will run in all weathers. You must be available and prepared to work weekends and back holidays. A condition of employment is attendance and completion of onsite health and safety training on Tuesday 19th July.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Represent SGA as the point of contact to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo Management.
  • Keep SGA updated regularly (by use of daily reports) on daily occurrences of the event.
  • Ensure that all ZSL Whipsnade Zoo event staff are sufficiently trained and briefed to run the event activities before they begin their daily duties.
  • Oversee the health and safety management of the entire event, including the bespoke inflatable game activity, by ensuring that the event staff are following and implementing the safety protocol for use – take operational decisions in the event of inclement weather.
  • Ongoing maintenance of activity equipment, props, branded materials.
  • Daily set up and check of the event assets across the site.
  • Assist the SGA Event Manager with initial event set up.
  • Ensure adequate breaks are taken by all event staffing as per their ZSL Whipsnade Zoo issued rota.
  • Uphold the brand ideals of the event.
  • Adhere to SGA Productions COVID-19 Protocols if restrictions are still in place.

  • Full time Event Manager – £150 per day / £900 per week
  • Full time Assistant Event Manager – £130 per day / £780 per week
  • Part Time Event Manager (2 days) – £150 per day

These roles are freelance positions. The fee is an ‘all in’ fee – there are no additional payments for travel, holiday or sick pay and no payments for national insurance or pension contributions will be made.
